Signposts & Citytalk Group: Creating Safer Spaces Through Unified Business Security.

Based in Luton Bedfordshire, Signposts are a charity dedicated to supporting people experiencing homelessness through temporary accommodation, outreach, and support services. Their mission is centred around helping individuals rebuild their lives by providing safe environments, practical assistance, and long-term support pathways.

As the organisation continued to grow across multiple sites, maintaining consistent security standards for staff, clients, and visitors became increasingly important. To support this journey, Citytalk partnered closely with Signposts to design and deliver a modern, scalable, business CCTV infrastructure across the estate.

The Challenge: Multiple Sites with Varying Security Needs

Like many growing charities, operating across several locations, each Signposts site had different operational requirements and existing infrastructure. Security systems varied between buildings, making management, monitoring, and maintenance increasingly difficult.

The organisation required a unified solution that would:

· Improve the safety of clients, staff, and visitors

· Standardise CCTV systems across all sites improving image quality

· Provide reliable remote visibility and monitoring

· Support future growth across the estate

· Reduce maintenance complexity and downtime

Each building also presented unique challenges, from accommodation layout to communal spaces, meaning a one size fits all approach would not deliver the required level of protection or operational efficiency.

A Bespoke Approach Across the Estate

Citytalk worked closely with Shelby and Laura from Signposts team to fully understand the operational needs of every site before any installation work began. Detailed site surveys were conducted across the estate to identify risks, infrastructure requirements, camera placements, and coverage priorities.

Rather than deploying identical systems in every location, Citytalk designed bespoke solutions tailored specifically to the environment and day to day use of each building.

This collaborative approach ensured that every site achieved a system that balanced security, usability, and scalability while remaining sensitive to the needs of the residents.

Bringing All Sites onto One Unified Platform

A key objective of the project was to centralise security management across the organisation. Citytalk upgraded the CCTV infrastructure and implemented a unified platform that allows Signposts to manage and monitor multiple sites through a single system.

The new setup provides:

· Centralised visibility across the estate

· Simplified management and maintenance

· Improved incident response times

· Enhanced image quality and footage retrieval

· Greater operational efficiency for management teams

By modernising the infrastructure and standardising systems across locations, Signposts now benefits from a more resilient and security environment that can grow alongside the organisation.

We are supporting them with services beyond our CCTV install with total site physical security maintenance and with our telecoms team providing business mobile services for the charity too.
