Managed IT Services Where Cyber Security Is Paramount

Building a Governance Body from the Ground Up with End-to-End IT & Unified Communications Support

About CIGB

The Credit Information Governance Body (CIGB) is the UK’s newly established self-regulatory body, created following the Financial Conduct Authority’s landmark market study into the credit information sector. Its mission is to oversee and improve the UK credit information market – setting rigorous standards for data reciprocity, enhancing transparency, and ensuring that credit information works effectively for consumers, lenders, and all other stakeholders. CIGB was incorporated as a new organisation tasked with replacing outdated governance arrangements and building a modern, inclusive framework for the UK’s credit information landscape. With a growing subscriber base drawn from across the financial services industry, CIGB manages sensitive regulatory data and operates under significant compliance and reputational expectations from day one.

The Challenge

When CIGB launched in 2025, it faced the challenge that every new organisation does – but with far less margin for error than most. As a self-regulatory body handling sensitive financial data and accountable to both the FCA and its industry subscribers, CIGB required a robust, secure, and scalable IT foundation from the very first day of operation.

Key challenges included:

  • Establishing a fully operational IT environment from scratch, with no legacy infrastructure to build on
  • Procuring the right mix of hardware and software to equip a small but growing professional team
  • Ensuring ongoing IT reliability so that staff could focus on governance and stakeholder engagement rather than technical issues
  • Maintaining the security and compliance standards expected of a financial sector regulatory body
  • Scaling communications infrastructure to support board meetings, advisory councils, and subscriber engagement across the UK

Our Approach

Citytalk became CIGB’s trusted IT partner from September 2025, providing a comprehensive, end-to-end technology service that has grown in step with the organisation.

IT Hardware Procurement

We supplied CIGB with a complete suite of business-grade hardware, including laptops, carefully specified to meet the performance and security demands of a regulated financial services environment. As the organisation has grown its headcount and welcomed new board members and council participants, Citytalk has scaled hardware provision accordingly, ensuring every new team member is fully equipped from day one.

Software Licensing & Management

Citytalk manages CIGB’s software estate, covering productivity suites, security solutions, and compliance-relevant applications. Our licensing management ensures CIGB remains fully compliant, avoids overspend, and has the right tools available as their needs evolve – without the administrative overhead of managing renewals and agreements in-house.

Managed IT Services

As CIGB’s managed IT services provider, Citytalk delivers proactive monitoring, helpdesk support, and ongoing maintenance across the organisation’s technology environment. For a small team with a large mandate, having a reliable external IT partner means issues are resolved quickly and systems remain secure – allowing CIGB’s staff to remain focused on their governance work rather than IT troubleshooting.

Webex Telephony — Expanding the Partnership

As CIGB accelerated into its operational phase – launching advisory councils, onboarding lenders and credit reference agencies as subscribers, and engaging with stakeholders across the financial services industry – the need for a professional, unified communications platform became clear. Citytalk expanded the partnership to include Cisco Webex Telephony, delivering a cloudbased communications solution that seamlessly integrates voice, video, and messaging. This has transformed how CIGB connects with its growing network of subscribers, board members, and advisory council participants, supporting efficient governance at scale without the complexity or cost of traditional telephony infrastructure.

Looking Ahead

As CIGB continues its mission to modernise UK credit information governance – growing its subscriber base, expanding its advisory councils, and embedding its Principles of Reciprocity across the industry — Citytalk remains a committed technology partner. We are proud to support an organisation that plays a critical role in making the UK credit information market fairer and more transparent for consumers and businesses alike.
